Privacy
RDNL is committed to protecting your privacy and safety online. We have written a Privacy Statement to explain why we ask you for information when you become a member of the Online Club or participate in some of the activities on this Site. Read this Privacy Statement carefully so that you will know in advance the types of information we gather, how we use and safeguard your information, and how you or your parents can ask us to change or delete that information at any time.
Additional Safety Tips
Whether you're dealing with us or anyone else, you should always exercise precaution! Never give your address, telephone number or your phone number to someone unless your parents say it's all right. Never tell anyone what school you go to unless your parents give you their permission to do so. Although we don't have a chat room for our users, if you meet people at other sites, never agree to meet them unless your parents have agreed to let you and will accompany you. Always talk to your parents if you discover something on the world wide web that bothers you or about which you have questions.
For Parents
YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO CHANGE OR DELETE YOUR CHILD'S INFORMATION
There are many activities on the Site that your child can participate in and enjoy without having to share personally identifiable information. We never condition a child's participation in any activity requiring the submission of information on the child having to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to administer the activity. You may modify, review or ask us to delete the information your child has submitted to us by sending us a message or by calling us at the number below. Your child will be allowed to participate in the Site's activities even if you specifically ask us not to disclose his or her information to third parties.

We have created this Privacy Statement to explain why we ask you for information when you become a member of the Online Club ("the Club") or participate in some of the activities on this Site. Children 12 and younger
The Site includes lots of features that can be enjoyed without submitting any information at all. But if you're under the age of 13, and you think you will want to submit some information to us, then we need to get your parent's permission beforehand.
Use of information: The Man
This section of the Site includes an interactive biography that let's you compare your life to the life of Roald Dahl. You will be asked to input your birthday, the number of brothers and sisters you have, your name, the colour of your eyes, your height, your favourite colour, your favourite food, your pet's name (if you have one), and what you would like to be when you grow up. We do not retain this information. All the information is processed within your own browser window. No information is sent to our server, so this information is completely isolated to your machine.
Use of information: Tips for Teachers
This section of the Site is for teachers who are invited to join an email list. We notify teachers by email when we update the Site and when we want to provide you with relevant Roald Dahl news. This email list is shared - not sold - to our affiliates, however you may unsubscribe at any time by following the opt-out procedures below (or by sending an unsubscribe message in accordance with the instructions at the end of any email you receive from us).
Use of information: Treats
This is the section of the Site where you kids can join the Club. As part of the registration process, we will ask you to submit your full name, your postal address, your email address, your date of birth, your favourite Roald Dahl book, your favourite Roald Dahl character, your favourite movie, and the names of authors whose works you enjoy reading. It is our policy not to collect information from you if you are under the age of 13, unless we first obtain the consent of your parents. If we become aware that you have registered or are attempting to register without your parent's permission, you will receive an email from us just once, informing you that you may not become a member without the permission of your parents. After that, we delete any personally identifiable information about you from our records, except that information we will use to prohibit you from entering the Club (until you get permission!).
The only time we will ever use your postal address is to send you a prize if you have been lucky and skillful enough to win one of our competitions.
Through your participation in the Club, we may learn other things about you such as your hobbies, likes and dislikes and other things you choose to tell us. None of this information will be used by us unless we have told you in advance of our intention to do so, and we never sell any information whatsoever. But if you choose to participate in one of our writing contests and submit stories or letters that include details about your life and people you know you should always check with those people first, and if you're ever uncertain whether it's all right to send it along - check with your parents before you do so! Anything you send to us becomes the property of RDNL and we may post your submissions to the Site.
We may share information about you that is not personally identifiable, but only with our closest affiliates. Information that does not identify you personally is called aggregated information, which means information that describes the collective habits and other common traits of all the Club members as a group, and which never identifies a particular individual or anything personal about him.
We may email you periodically to answer questions you send to us or to let you know when we have added new information to this Site or other Roald Dahl news. However, you may unsubscribe from regular mailings at any time by following the opt-out procedures below (or by sending an unsubscribe message in accordance with the instructions at the end of any email you receive from us or one of our affiliates).
You also have the opportunity to send electronic postcards to friends. This feature requires you to give us the email address of the postcard recipient, which we will use only to post the card.
Emails
Whenever we ask you to send us an email, you will receive an automatic reply from us confirming receipt of your submission. Although we use your email address to contact you in this manner, and in the manner described in the section above, we do not sell your email address to any third party.
